Design Your Next Remodel The Easy Way
This subject is something I always think of last when I am working on my house. I have an idea to improve my house, and scribble something down on paper, not even considering the computer. Using your computer is a great way to see what your work is going to look like without actually completing it…I have not always been technologically savvy, so at times the most obvious use of the computer and my house slips by me.
I use Punch software home designer when I need something quick to turn into the permit department in my area. This is an easy home designer that will do most anything for the low tech person wanting a good design. I have used it on several home additions that required a roof change and interior design changes. This is a quick and easy way to get a picture of your renovation in your mind.
There are times that you would like to put together a cabinet design before you run to the store to purchase something. There are several good programs for designing cabinet layouts. I usually lean towards the lower price stuff because more than likely you will be using it only a few times. First one to come to mind is the free cabinet designer that is offered at Lowe’s and Home Depot several times during the year. These designers are usually cheap and work well if you plan to buy your cabinets from either of these builder superstores. Another inexpensive cabinet designer that I have used is Smart Draw, this one is nice because it can be downloaded (you don’t have to pick it up).
If you need Engineered drawings for any purpose the obvious choice is Auto Cad. This software takes time to learn, but it is the most versatile in the building software market. This software is nice because it has add ins for all sorts of projects (add on software for different w/ graphics etc.) The cons of course for this software are its price and the times you will most likely use it. I would love to have this software on my personal computer, but I find that I would have to use it everyday to make up the cost.
Thank you for reading.
