I have been asked many times since I started working on my own construction jobs, “what is Bondo?” My answer would have to be, “unequivocally the best putty known to man kind.”…Not really, but it is pretty good as far as putty goes. Bondo is a polyester resin that is mixed with a white toothpaste like catalyst (hardener). I use Bondo on anything that needs a quick ding repair, a puttyable (made up this word) ding in wood, metal, fiberglass, etc… How do you use it? You get about a golf ball size clump of the gray stuff (in the large can) and mix it with about a 3/4 inch bead of the catalyst in the cup attached to the can or in a cup size container. When you have a good homogenius mixture (you cannot tell the mixture is made up of two substances), it is ready to be applied to your surface. Use a putty knife to apply the putty liberally to the damaged area. Allow it to dry until it is hard to the touch, then lightly sand the surface of the putty until it is smooth. Repeat the steps until you have a nice level, smooth finish. Then all that is left is to Prime and Paint.
